XV - SmallVille

I have always been a fan of XV's music and his latest track is proof to me that he is a beast. With a J.Cole production "Smallville" came out to be a pretty dope track. The smashing pumpkins sample definitely throws a great sound into it.

Dana Coppafeel - Paradise

The visuals from Dana's recent single Paradise. Pretty dope video.

Kendrick Lamar - Heaven & Hell

Thank God I came across this after being talked off my balcony...

Wiz Khalifa feat Too Short - On My Level

Normally I post my comments regarding a song underneath the video/post/link. Well not today. See...today I came across Wiz Khalifa's "On My Level" on 2dopeboyz (as I do with A LOT of the new music I'm looking for). Now normally I would listen, make an honest assessment, and either post the video or not. Well I've still done that in this case. But usually where I would be posting a song because I like it...this is the polar opposite of that philosophy. Plain and simple: THIS IS THE WORST SONG I'VE HEARD IN A LOOOOOOONG TIME!!!. And I even like Wiz a little bit. Too $hort?? Shit. I've been putting money in his pockets since I was working a paper route back in the 5th grade. Hell - I even put something else in one of his video girls so me and Too $hort share similar tastes (not sure that was the best decision - but true story nonetheless). But this video represents EVERYTHING I hate about the current state of Hip Hop and I really hope you agree when I say: "Lake of Fire for this one". Maybe I'm just in a real shitty mood right now - but if you like a song like this in anyway at all - we could never get along. I've held my negative opinions for too long and this is the video that is letting everyone know that I will hold back no longer. This song is so ridiculously terrible that I might have to start a new blog dedicated to promoting the music I despise. I'll call it RazorBladesandAids.com. I've literally been made sick with this one. I hope that somehow the "internet gods" will deliver 100,000 hits to our site today so that everyone can read how bitter I am over someone else's music I've put on my site. It's time for the term "hater" to get a cultural facelift. Don't enjoy!!!

Now I'm not a big weed head... but if I was I would probably roll a fat blunt of strawberry kush... or afgoo... or OG kush... or purple kush... or Alaskan Thunderfuck... or Candy Graham... or even Banana Kush and sit back on a bean bag and listen to this track on rotation... Yeah... that's what I'd do. But I'm not a weed head soooo....   Open your mind, listen to the dope track, and SMOKE SOMN!!!

Marvin Gaye & Pink Floyd

So I was talking to the homie BOBO the other day and he told me about this Marvin Gaye/Pink Floyd project that had recently surfaced and supposedly never been released. I was in shock because who really could ever imagine these two legends ever joining forces to create an album and not a sole knowing right? I ended up digging for some info on this and found this article HERE and a snippet of a song on youtube that you can see after the jump. I'm not sure on this one. If it is true that would be the greatest story never told and if it isn't true... it's still cool. What do you think?

Geto Boys - 6 Feet Deep

One of the anthems for the 90's. Hit the jump to see the vid.

Brand Nubian - Don't Let It Go To Your Head

I remember riding to Brand Nubian's "Foundation" album for ever. I think I had it on steady rotation for at least a year. Still to this day I'll pull it out on the ipod. "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" is one of my favorite records on the whole album. I think it's a good look to give it a little "throw back" love. After the jump you can see the video.

Ill Poetic Interview with Freddie Gibbs

NO BULLSHIT

They say when times get lean, it’s best to reel it in and stick together. Born and raised in post-industrial, Reagan-approved Crack Era Gary, Indiana, Freddie Gibbs gets that. This would explain his grassroots approach to re-inventing a once promising major label-approved career into an independent DIY movement. In 2004, Gibbs signed with Interscope, but not one for the politic game, he grew tired of waiting for Jimmy Iovine to friend him on Facebook, built a team and a sound and began dropping heat himself. Following two underground classic mixtapes, “The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs”, and “Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik”(personal favorite), Gibbs returned in 2010 with “Str8 Killa No Filla” and a co-starring role on XXL’s esteemed “Freshman 10” list. A true representation of recession era hip-hop, Gibbs reels it in and hits the Midwest for a thorough run in promotion of the “Str8 Killa” record. Think back to the classic Midwest and Southern folks we used to watch on Rap City and Yo! MTV Raps in the 90’s. Now fast-forward it 20 years into the future. This is Freddie Gibbs. No Bullshit.     -Ill Poetic

Girl Talk - Oh No

Smoke DZA - Greenhouse

TDK Chronicles: Nas

We all know Nas is a legendary piece of the Hip Hop world. I mean damn... illmatic is one of the dopest albums ever created in my opinion. So it's fitting that we actually hear the legend go in on the impact of the tape deck and how actual tapes played such a big part in Hip Hop and the movement from his perspective. It's funny hearing him talk about this because I can remember doing the same shit back in the day. Check out the video after the jump.

Philly Moves - Summer Breeze

I recently had the chance to really dig for some new music and I came across two guys, Tragic and Rockwell, otherwise known as the group "Philly Moves". These cats are based out of Ottawa Canada. This is one of those groups that sneaks up on you. At first glance you wouldn't think that the sounds of classic 90's hip hop flow would sift through the air waves when they would be performing. You would be wrong. They have a classic sound that takes you through the days of house parties, back yard basketball, super soaker drive bys, half naked women at the pool, cruising in Acura Legends, BB-Qs at the homies crib... ect. In other words the shit is some feel good music. Sorry about running on... Just remembering life in the 90's. Anyways... I was checking out there EP titled "25 Years" last week and it's been in rotation ever since. Philly Moves is a must for all of you true hip hop heads looking for a break from the norm. Check out their latest single titled "summer breeze" after the jump.
