I am posting this for two reasons and two reasons only. First, the instrumental kind of reminds me of the movie Drum Line and I have always had an unspeakable obsession with that movie. Secondly, Danny Trejo is a bad ass.

It's been a while since I have connected to an album as much as I did with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' latest The Heist. It is hands down my favorite album so far this year. Jabari Johnson took a week out of his schedule to catch up with the two and talk about branding, music, and the daily grind. Check it out...
This is pretty much awesome.
Mood Indigo, is a Boston electronic artist, whose work tends to remind me of good food in Los Angeles. I'll elaborate.
LA's food scene is famous for combining odd flavors and influences into a small and delectable dish, bursting with flavor, each aspect complimenting the others perfectly. For example, Kogi BBQ food truck is famous for their Korean bbq short rib, yet the appearance and basis for their food is Mexican. The partnering of asian spiced meat and spicy orange sauce, with shredded cheese and a small tortilla result in a stunning meal that leaves my stomach craving more.
This is Mood Indigo's approach to music. The spiced korean short rib, the bulk of the meal, in MI's case is heavy, thumping bass and stuttering hi hats, providing a hip hop oriented beat structure. The shredded cheese and tortilla would be his soft crooning, gentle xylophone, and foreign percussion. The additional percussion often battles the hip hop layout, yet in a friendly and comfortable way.

This is a triple threatening track right here.
Icelandic producer Abstrakt Idea is gearing up to drop his album Beats Blunts & Burgers Vol.2, s. For the lead single, Ab has enlisted a few verses from Sadat X of the legendary Brand Nubian. This is another reminder that no matter where you are in the world, Hip Hop continues to resound and will always lend it's self as an outlet for the art of story telling. Stream this soul full joint below and watch for the full album to drop october 23rd.

What's the first thing you do when you get a beat from Toronto's premier track-smith Noah "40" Shebib? Well if you're Harlem's prince, A$AP Rocky you send that shit back to Canada and get a hot 16 from 40's partner in rhyme Drake. Once that's in the books you make sure you cover all demographics by catching a verse and then a hook from reigning west-coast champion Kendrick Lamar and the toast of the south 2 Chainz. Now you've got yourself a recipe for the most epic event North America has seen since the proposal for the Amero was first made.
Tito Lopez always brings sincere introspective lyrics that seem to resonate with his fans and his fan base is growing. We've been riding with Lopez for a grip now and even after a hiatus (however long) we will continue to support him and his music. Cop The Hunger Games now at Datpiff.
I very, very seldom use the beat down phrase "highly anticipated" so as not to water its meaning down. If every LP, EP or single was deemed highly anticipated we'd all be watching the internet sporting musical blog boners all day. No, I only get highly anticipated blog boners once, maybe twice a quarter and right now I've got a musical rager going. So I'm saying it now, stream the highly anticipated RZA Produced The Man With The Iron Fists and satiate your musical lust below.
Awwwe Molly is dead? Who killed Molly? This is a horror core who done it for the record books. See if you can solve the Chi-Town mystery. Was it Eddie M? Monster Mike? or Kami C? You decide. The results will be revealed on Eddie's forthcoming mixtape, The Virus.
Buckshot and 9th got you open, don't front. The two hip hop legends are gearing up to drop their latest collective project The Solution on November 13th in celebration they bless us with 'The Change Up' visual, which serves as a triumphant coup d'état towards all that is wack and corrupt in the music biz.
EL-P delivers his classic industrial-machine-hop vibe complete with droning bass sounds, guitar riff feedback and menacing keys. Jaleel Bunton from T.V. On the Radio lends his hypnotizing vocals to the songs hook. It helps keep this blood thirsty audience, full of teen pregnancies, enamored but they soon rial into a frenzied state. EL-P's flow attempts to keep the masses at bay but it doesn't appear to be enough, they soon loose control and have their way with what he loves most, Mr. Killums the Squirrel Face.

"Synesthesia... Synesthesia?! Maybe it has something to do with memory loss, BUT WHY?" Those were the exact thoughts that brewed in my mind the first time I heard the title of Ill Po's newest EP. I remember feeling a little ignorant because I had heard the term "Synesthesia" before in conversation and acted like I had been a Synesthesia expert since 7th grade. Not knowing the meaning at all, I did what any resourceful internet nerd with a slight drinking problem would do... went straight to the dictionary... ok... google, but what ever.
syn·es·the·sia[sin-uhs-thee-zhuh, -zhee-uh, -zee-uh]
a sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color.
WOW... Seems a little super human if you ask me. When I say "super human" I mean that in the most Marvel Comic way possible. "Word on the street" is that Ill Po actually has Synesthesia... Ok not really "word on the street"... I was actually at one of his shows about a year ago and overheard him telling John Stamos, of all people, about his Synesthesia epidemic. I wasn't really paying close attention or giving it much thought at the time. I was more focused on figuring out why Jesse, from Full House, showed up to an Ill Poetic show in Phoenix Arizona. Anyways, I guess the point of the story is that Ill Poetic has some how inherited super powers. This would kind of make him a super hero of sorts right? Ok... maybe I've had one too many vodka sprites and that's ((OK)) with me. Super Hero or not... I could definitely see him on the Hip Hop Fantastic Four after listening to this project. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is into projects with 100% substance. S/O to our friends over at djbooth.net on the co-sign and S/O to Ill Poetic on a super dope introduction to the Synesthesia movement.

"Here is "Old Him", a song produced by my Zillas (Elan Wright & Nima Skeemz) 8,000 miles away back home in Seattle, written while on the night train to Bangalore, India, and recorded in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, while severely sick from food poisoning (caused two months into my trip, after being convinced by my Indian friends to try KFC for the first time in my life)." - Sol
iSH is back with his latest. There is nothing better than an articulate sound with a story to match. iSH slows it down for the 3rd installment of his THR3MIX series. Although it's not so typical, I can still relate.
OhNo lays out his signature style drums and crazy soul sample as the perfect blanket for Pladough to unfold and drop bars for days. Inspired from Bob Dylan's Beyond the Horizon, this joint blends the writing of an icon with the witty and punchy delivery from Playdough. Keep an eye out for Playdough's new Writer Dye: Deux or Die project on October 22nd.
